Moira Marshall is an Auckland based artist who has had a passion for art her whole life. Moira draws her inspiration from everything around her and loves transforming her subjects on the canvas, giving them new vibrancy and life with her realist style of vivid rich glowing colours and clean lines.
Moira works from her Glendowie studio, usually painting three days per week. Working predominantly in oil paint on canvas, she also sometimes uses acrylics and mixed media techniques.
In her work to date there has been a strong influence of the New Zealand tradition of painting that has evolved from the clear quality of New Zealand light, known as Regional Realism.
Moira has also studied photography at ATI (now AUT) and attended a course at ASA School of Art. More recently, she has trained under the tutelage of Wendy Leach, studying painting techniques.
Working predominantly in oil paint, Moira's varied subjects include portraiture, figurative, landscape, and symbolic abstracts.
